Sonya Katcher, LMSW (she, her, hers) Psychotherapist
Sonya is a licensed therapist and artist. She works with clients to cultivate self knowledge and acceptance, so that they can create and sustain deeper relationships with others. There is no singular formula for change, progress or healing; so we must figure out how to invent our own. Sonya brings creativity, levity, and an engaged presence to this process.
Her practice is informed by a mix of different therapeutic modalities, including Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and DBT, but she will look first to you as the expert on how to address your own needs. Sonya welcomes clients of all ages, cultures, gender expressions, and sexualities. She has done extensive work supporting clients moving through grief, navigating complex trauma, and repairing relationships.
Sonya comes to Roots and Branches with over a decade of experience supporting people living with schizophrenia. Working with this community has instilled a deep reverence for resilience, an appreciation of difference, and an unwavering certainty that we’re all capable of building an authentic, connected life. Sonya has a background in art education, leading art classes and workshops for children, adolescents, and adults.
