Betty Roytburd, MSW-LP (she, her, hers) Psychotherapist
Betty is a psychotherapist who works with individuals navigating anxiety, grief, burnout, relationship challenges, identity questions, and major life transitions. She approaches therapy as a collaborative process and prioritizes cultivating a therapeutic relationship in which experiences, emotions, and questions can be explored openly and without judgment. Clients are invited to reflect on patterns in their lives while exploring the histories, stories, and personal narratives that shape how they understand themselves and their relationships. Through dialogue, new insights and possibilities can begin to emerge.
Her clinical approach integrates evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), alongside narrative therapy, mindfulness practices, somatic awareness, creative arts therapy, and psychodynamically informed perspectives. Betty works from a social justice–oriented perspective and attends to how social, cultural, and material conditions shape people’s lives and experiences. Her work brings curiosity to how individuals make meaning of their experiences, with attention to language, the body, and the broader contexts in which grief and change take shape.
Betty holds a Master of Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and a BFA in Interdisciplinary Sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her clinical training includes facilitating creative arts therapy groups and working in community-based mental health settings. Alongside her psychotherapy practice, Betty continues to work as an artist and curator and has helped organize community initiatives focused on mutual aid and supporting communities affected by war and displacement. She is fluent in English, Ukrainian, and Russian. Her artistic practice, clinical training, and community work inform an approach that values creativity, reflection, and the possibilities that can emerge through conversation.
